About Me

My approach is rooted in the belief that everyone has the potential to learn and excel in mathematics, and that it is our responsibility as educators to meet students where they are and treat them as if they have limitless potential.

My Story

I believe that math should be fun, accessible, and relevant to everyone's lives. It is not merely a set of rules and formulas to be memorized, but a language that allows us to communicate rigorous arguments, represent the world symbolically, and uncover profound truths about the universe around us. At the core of my philosophy is the principle of student autonomy. Rather than dictating a rigid curriculum, I tailor instruction to students' interests, passions, and aptitudes, guiding them through challenging problems that foster critical thinking and a genuine love for problem-solving. Ultimately, my mission is to break down barriers and equip students with the knowledge and skills they need to achieve their goals. I believe that math education should be a lifelong journey of discovery, where students are empowered to explore the beauty and power of mathematics in a supportive and engaging environment.

My journey began with a deep desire to use STEM for positive impact. After working on plant breeding for sustainable agriculture, I transitioned to education, serving as a special education assistant and middle school math teacher before finding my true calling as a math educator focused on student autonomy and lifelong learning.

What Our Students Have to Say

Every math class I’d be happy. Never once have I thought ’Dang it, I have math!’ Not to mention, the stuff I never understood in elementary school is now really easy for me.
